Our History and Journey
In the Winter of 2021, TYP Executive Director Paisley LoBue joined Trailside Middle School’s community as the director of Wolfpack Productions (WPP) after the program took a season off due to the pandemic. With a budget for essentials, a brand-new PTSA, much uncertainty, and a small pool of passionate students, LoBue and vocal director Bethany Shears embarked on the journey to restart the program from scratch and put on the musical James and The Giant Peach (2022).
After a season of unimaginable joy, creativity, troubleshooting, and hard work, Wolfpack Productions had found its new form - a form that put students in collaborative positions of leadership, empowered each young artist to push for their full potential, and one where students felt the warm embrace of their new home in the theatre. And the community agreed. The audiences of our sold-out shows were shocked and amazed by the young students’ ability to produce such a high-level production and had them asking, “How do we join?”
In the following years, WPP continued to spark fires of love for theatre in the hearts of audience members and participants alike. Dazzling productions of Willy Wonka (2023) and The Wizard of Oz (2024) grew the Wolfpack family. Increased involvement from excited parents and students contributed to additional support, resources, and higher caliber productions, and the glow grew brighter, illuminating a need for more: more students who can become involved, more opportunities to participate, and more chances to invite audiences in to witness the magic.
In response, LoBue and the Wolfpack team decided it was time to grow. With Wolfpack Productions as the birthplace and a partnership with Trailside MS, LoBue and a board of inspired directors got to work devising a program that would strengthen and support the quickly expanding theatre community within Ashburn.
Through this non-profit effort, we are excited to present more opportunities for connection than ever before, grow our theatre family, and provide a space for young artists to lead, collaborate, and find their purpose in the theatre.
